The Radiology Society of the Emirates and the European Society of Radiology Sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)
The Agreement promotes academic collaboration and exchange of knowledge between the two societies
Dubai – United Arab Emirates, 31st January 2017: The Radiology Society of the Emirates (RSE) and the European Society of Radiology (ESR) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on Radiology research and education, paving the way for promoting constant academic collaboration and exchange of knowledge and expertise in the radiology field. The MoU includes maintaining excellence in technical expertise and knowledge, while enhancing partnership between both societies.
The MoU was signed by Prof. Katrine Riklund, Chairperson of the Board of Directors, European Society of Radiology – ESR and Dr. Abdulla Alremaithi, President of the Radiology Society of the Emirates – RSE. The final signatures were added to the agreement during the second day of the Arab Health Exhibition & Congress held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, at the INDEX Conference & Exhibitions booth there. Worth mentioning that INDEX is the organizer of the Annual Radiology Meeting, in partnership with the Radiology Society of the Emirates (RSE).
The MoU cements the relationship between the two societies, thus enabling radiologists from the United Arab Emirates to apply for fellowships and scholarships with the European Society of Radiology (ESR). The agreement also opens the door for the European Society of Radiology to hold training courses in the UAE, along with visiting professorship and lectureship programmes.
Prof. Katrine Riklund, Chairperson of the Board of Directors, European Society of Radiology – ESR, said after signing the agreement: “The ESR’s permanent mission is to provide updated healthcare services to the public and offer ultimate healthcare solutions to the community, while investing in science, education and research, in addition to improving the quality of services in the Radiology Departments. As part of our commitment to this approach, we have forged close ties with international counterparts, and as a result, we have created a solid foundation and stable platform for an accessible and accurate knowledge exchange between the two societies. The agreement we signed today supports our endeavour for promoting best practices and we have great expectations for this cooperation between with our UAE counterparts.”
From his side, Dr. Abdulla Alremaithi, President of Radiology Society of the Emirates – RSE, and the Conference Chairman of the Annual Radiology Meeting in the UAE added: “This MoU will encourage creating a much closer and mutually-beneficial collaboration between the two societies. The Radiology Society of Emirates is keen on improving the exchange of knowledge amongst its members and is also keen on establishing close ties with international radiology societies. This agreement acts as a framework to further-strengthen bilateral cooperation through expertise exchange and sharing the best practices in the pursuit of achieving our goals and visions. In this occasion, we have also decided to participate in the European Congress of Radiology in Vienna in March 2017 through a dedicated stand to promote the Radiology Society of the Emirates.”
The Annual Radiology Meeting (ARM) will be held alternatively between the two emirates of Abu Dhabi and Dubai, and is organized by INDEX Conferences and Exhibitions Organisation Est. – member of INDEX Holding, in collaboration with the Radiology Society of the Emirates. The next ARM is scheduled on 5-7 November 2017 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
